A lesson on perspectives

Headbanging with sharks

If Great Whites knew how to use iPods, you know what they'd be playing: heavy metal, without a doubt. Dean Karr, a rock music photographer, know it to be true. In fact, one of his favourite pastimes involves dibing into shark-infested waters with waterproof speakers and blasting them fishes with classic Slayer and Iron Maiden.

His verdict? Sharks are total metalheads. "We were playing Iron Maiden's 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner', and this 18-fott female swam right up to us. Then she turned around and swallowed one of the speakers. It was totally wild."

The news that sharks prefer heavy metal over, say Simon and Garfunkel comes as no suprise. Classic metal themes - darkness, evil and power, easily translate into the murky, cold-blooded world of the ocean's greatest predators. And like heavy metal fans, sharks are hardcore creatures:

they don't sleep (if they stop swimming, they die)
they like blood and death
they secrete urin through their skin

and if brought above water would probably, like many of our friends at Ozzfest, emanate the stench of piss. Hell, it's probably time the word 'shark' got its own umlaut. Word.

PS: And just so you are aware, more people are killed by dogs each year than have been killed by sharks in the last century....dig that.

Can you find Elle?

Mark Jenkins street art installation on Charing Cross Road today. It caused a lot of attention and very interesting reactions amongst fellow londoners. I loved watching from a distance, hiding behind sunglasses but knowing all the answers everybody else was desperately looking for :)

If you want to see more of Mark, his exhibition starts 13 April at Lazarides Gallery, 8 Greek Street, Soho.

"Hi Elisa, I hope you caught the spread today - the pictures look fantastic. Thanks for sorting it out. Best wishes, A."

"Dear Elisa, Thank you so much for the cuttings/web links you have been sending through. Much appreciated. I hope to meet you before too long. Best wishes, C."

I am quite happy and pleased. I very much enjoy my job (I will probably be grey haired by the end of the year - and a raging Champagne-a-holic, but hey ;)), and think I have found my true calling. I am lucky enough to work with amazing and fascinating clients, and on top of that I get to work very closely with some of my favourite artists such as Lucy McLauchlan and Paul Insect.

Our flat is slowly starting to look like a flat, and over the Easter break we should be able to get a lot done. Once it looks nice I can take pictures for the blog (only to pretend that it has looked like that from the very beginning, ha ha). Right, so my plans for the break are

  1. Get my hair done
  2. Sort out things in our flat
  3. Have lots of sex
  4. Have more sex
  5. Enjoy the gorgeous weather
  6. Sex

Yes, that sounds good. What are all you guys up to? Well, you all know where I live, so you are welcome to come and help around the house - except for when I am having sex.....:)

The Independet today *proud*

Mark Jenkins at Lazarides Gallery in Soho

Elisa is back :)! Will write a much longer entry tomorrow, but to let everyone or anyone who is interested know that I will have my first feature published in The Independent tomorrow....
wohoooo :)! Mark Jenkins is exhibiting at Lazarides Gallery in Soho. The show is called Outcasts and more than worth paying a visit! Hope to see you there.

Maddie sweetheart, it was so lovely to see you today! In between mobile clubbing and beggars it was quite nice to hear your fears about being arrested for a ripped £10 note (you are SUCH a gaylord). Remember our Wales plan, the two criminals completely deserve a lesson.
